Public meeting in Tallaght stadium for parents of children with disabilities takes place tomorrow

A public meeting hosted by Dublin South West TD and Minister for Children Katherine Zappone will take place tomorrow in Tallaght Stadium at 5pm.

The meeting comes after more than 100 parents took to the streets of Tallaght earlier this month calling for better services and an end to waiting lists for all children and young adults with disabilities.

The March for our Children event was organised by the Enough is Enough campaign which, spearheaded by three local mothers, sparked 17 simultaneous marches across the country.

Some of those who took to the streets have children waiting up to 48 months for an assessment of needs, while others have children who have been waiting several months for occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, early intervention services and other services based at Chamber House in Tallaght, which is the HSE community services office for the area.

Those wishing to attend the public meeting tomorrow are asked to register with Katherine Zappone’s constituency office by calling 01-4271072 or by emailing claire.murphy@oireachtas.ie.
