Receivers appointed to The Square shopping centre

AIB has appointed receivers to The Square – a move that will ‘not impact any tenants or the continued operation’ of the Tallaght shopping centre.

Kieran Wallace and Eamonn Richardson of Interpath Advisory have been appointed joint receivers and managers to the companies and properties known as The Square Town Centre.

In a statement today, Interpath Advisory said that the appointments have been made with the consent and co-operation of funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management.

Today’s statement said that “all parties are committed to working together to complete an orderly sale of The Square to a new owner in early course”.

The statement also confirmed: “The owners of the independently owned units will not be impacted by the receivership.

“The appointments of the receivers and managers will not impact any tenants or the continued operation and trading at The Square.

Oaktree, which bought The Square in 2019 for €250m from NAMA, put the local shopping centre on the market in the summer of 2023 for €170m.

Opened in 1990, The Square is home to over 130 shops, 30 restaurants and a multi-screen cinema.
