Recognition for festive charity work at Xmas

A RESIDENTIAL street in Palmerstown was transformed into a Christmas winter wonderland, after a resident was recognised for his festive charity work by Tesco Ireland.

Sean White has been putting up an impressive Christmas display at his home in Palmerstown, with his wife Lorraine for the last 20 years.

He also raises money for people in the community who need it most, like local boy Dylan, who was diagnosed with profound cerebral palsy shortly after birth.

Sean’s fundraising has raised over €10,000 for The Dylan Lester Trust Fund.

To mark its new campaign ‘Become More Christmas’, Tesco decided it was Sean’s turn to be celebrated for bringing joy to his community.

With the help of Lorraine and his neighbours, he was whisked away for the night courtesy of Tesco, while the Christmas elves worked their magic.

The event featured live music and was attended by Santa himself.

Lorraine White said of her husband: “He works so hard every year to make Christmas special and to bring joy to our community, it’s just amazing to see him get a chance to experience it for himself and for the neighbourhood to have a chance to give back to him.”

Cathal Deavy, Customer Director at Tesco Ireland said: “It is really special to be able to celebrate Sean and give something back to someone who does so much for his community. Sean truly embodies what it means to ‘Become More Christmas’ and works tirelessly every year to spread Christmas joy, so we are delighted to be able to transform his street into the ultimate winter wonderland for him to enjoy.”
