A STUDENT at Lucan Community College is set to represent Ireland at the 2016 Face of the Globe pageant, which will take place in Disneyland Paris in April.

Monica Matei, who is currently in her second year at Lucan Community College, will be taking part in the pageant from April 2 to April 8.

The pageant aims to have participants embrace new experiences and try new challenges, and focuses on the participant’s commitment to voluntary work and working for the good of others.

Monica is a volunteer with her church and has also organised a non-uniform day at her school to raise money in aid of a Malawian charity which provides irrigation projects, HIV/AIDS education and early childhood development.

She is also a student of the Talented Kids stage school, and performed in the Olympia Theatre last year at the school’s annual production.

Monica now hopes to bring back the Face of the Globe title to Ireland following the pageant on April 8.
