Robbie Keane joins match of the day panel
Tallaght native Robbie Keane looks to be making a move into punditry ahead of the new Premier League season with Keane set to join the Match of the Day line up.
Many felt that Glenshane’s Keane could be making a switch to England in a managerial role after stepping down as boss of Hungarian side Ferencvaros in May. Keane won a league and a cup during his time with the team.
A move to Match of the Day will at least keep him in the public eye and with Keane seeing success already in his career as a manager, expect that he could be taking over in the Premier League or Championship should there be impromptu dismissals throughout the year.
Keane was expected by many to take over as Celtic boss in June however Martin O’Neills decision to continue with the Glasgow club brought an end to that speculation.
Crystal Palace were also thought to be amongst his admirers following the exit of Oliver Glasner however they enter the new season with Pierre Sage at the helm.
Ashley Young and Thomas Frank are joining Keane as new faces of the Match of the Day team where they will join the already established panel of Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney and MIcah Richards while it is also expected that Keane’s countryman Shay Given will be involved on the panel also.
