Rovers Amputee team claim double after league success
SHAMROCK Rovers Amputee squad capped off a fine season claiming the IAFA 2019 title at Turners Cross, the home of Cork City.
Rovers travelled to Turners Cross on Saturday in fine form having earlier in the season claimed the Sean McCaffrey Foundation cup in Monaghan. Rovers had now set their sights set on a remarkable double and that was to come to fruition with two impressive victories on Saturday.

First Up was hosts Cork City and the Hoops knew they would have to be at their best to claim maximum points.
Alan Wall was instrumental on the day latching on to a Kevan O’Rourke assist to slot the ball calmly past the Cork net minder.
Rovers continued to create chances and in the end one goal was enough to see all three points go the way of Shamrock Rovers.
In the second game of the day, Rovers knew all three points would see them crowned champions.
The Hoops started well and again Kevan O’Rourke laid on to Stuart McEvoy who rounded the advancing Bohemians defender before slotting the ball past the net-minder.
Rovers never looked back from that moment on and Kevan O’Rourke was to get his just rewards for a fine display with a well-worked goal as he broke in behind the Bohemians defence to latch on to a superb Alan Wall through ball.
At 2-0, Rovers controlled the game and the final whistle was greeted with wild celebrations
“After last year’s disappointment and not even being in the title race, this is a fantastic achievement,” said Shamrock Rovers manager Stuart McSweeney.
“Credit to both Cork and Bohemians that made us work for our victories, but our decision-making, work rate and movement was just too good to live with.
“All season we have been brilliant and when you win 10 from 14 games and only lose two you are putting yourself in a great position. This group of players have responded to the club’s vision and philosophy this season. To win a trophy in any season is a fantastic achievement, but to do the double is unbelievable. This group is an inspiration and a pleasure to coach”
Rovers will now have Champions League 2020 to look forward to.
