Rovers eager to build on win over champs
SHAMROCK Rovers will be hoping that last Friday’s 2-1 victory over defending champions Dundalk is a sign of things to come as they prepare for tonight’s trip to Dalymount Park to face arch rivals Bohemians.
Stephen Bradley’s boys began the second phase of the SSE Airtricity League campaign with a 2-1 triumph over the Lily-whites, with Ronan Finn and David McAllister serving up two first half goals.
The win kept the Hoops sixth in the table while exacting revenge for their reversal against Stephen Kenny’s side on a carbon copy scoreline on the opening day of the season.
They now turn their attention to harvesting another three points at the expense of a Bohs team that has lost all but one of their last six league games.
The Gypsises will be coming into this match off the back of their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Derry City in Maginn Park that left them ninth in the table.
Still just three points separate them from Rovers will be looking to inject some consistency into the league form this season.
It was Rovers who emerged with the bragging rights from their last encounter in March when goals from Brandon Miele and Michael O’Connor helped them to a 2-1 victory and their first points of the season.
