Safe School Streets Scheme changes to include drop-off bus area clearly designated
AN AGREEMENT has been reached to carry out changes to the trial Safe School Streets Scheme at St Mark’s Church and St Mark’s schools in Springfield, Tallaght.
South Dublin County Council held an online meeting on November 27 with key stakeholders, including local school principals, members of the boards of management, and the parish priest.
Concerns raised during the meeting included having a designated area for a school bus drop-off, as these drop-offs occur three times a day.
Other issues raised included the need for an area outside St Mark’s Church to accommodate two hearses for funerals, so they can access the church through the front doors.
The entrance to the church car park and the removal of some of the pencil bollards that move into the entrance of the church grounds were also discussed.
“There was an agreement reached with all the stakeholders of the school and the church to accommodate these changes as part of the trial and the contractor would work on these,” said the council.
“On that basis everyone at the meeting was happy with the outcome and for the trial to continue.”
