Sarsfields inters too good for Boden

LUCAN Sarsfields defeated Ballyboden St Enda’s 1-24 to 0-14 points in the Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Intermediate Hurling Championship relegation play off at the weekend.

The result succumbs Boden to Junior A hurling next year.

Although the scoreline suggests the match was comfortable for Lucan, it wasn’t for two thirds of the game with Boden enjoying a good start.

In a first half which saw mainly points from frees, Cian Kelly of Boden looked composed from placed balls throughout and helped his side to a healthy two-point lead for most of the first half.

Lucan’s number 13 kept the scoreline ticking for his side as they went 0-08 to 0-10 points behind at the break.

The second half looked to have started similar to the first as Boden picked up the first point of the half, but Lucan would go on to raise six white flags in a row as Hugh Cuff put on a point taking exhibition.

Sarsfields point taking abilities and long distance striking was all too much for Boden in the second half, as they outscored their opponents 1-14 to 0-04.

Evin Dowling looked sharp up front for Lucan, while their full back line dealt with everything Boden threw at them.

For Boden, Ronan Sharkey was very solid in goal and made some key saves while Enda Cashman and Darragh Smith at full back and centre back respectively both also impressed.
