Boden sent packing from championship
Na Fianna are through to the Go Ahead Ireland Dublin Senior 1 Hurling semi-finals after a convincing 4-26 to 2-14 victory over Ballyboden St Enda’s.
The holders impressed from the very start with AJ Murphy and Gavin King looking very threatening in the inside line as both picked up early scores.
Niall Ryan and David Gleeson responded with two points apiece for Boden, with the latter shining brightest in the St Enda’s forward line.
However, Na Fianna took control of the match on 19th minutes as the ever dangerous AJ Murphy turned on a sixpence and smashed home after a well-executed pass from Joe Kavanagh.
The Boden response was once again very good as wing-back Jack Lambert sent over three well taken points from play within four minutes before Gleeson pounced on a loose ball which was sent over the Na Fianna defence and finished well to leave just a point between the sides at the break.
Following the break, Na Fianna wing forward Ciaran Stacey started to really leave his mark on the game as he sent over three points while Ballyboden tried to keep pace with scores from substitutes Timmy Hammersley and Kevin Desmond.
The game was effectively decided on 50 minutes as Currie picked up a loose ball before eventually driving it into the back of the Boden net.
A outstanding Stacey goal was followed up by a Jono Tracey penalty to put some gloss on an impressive performance from the holders.
They face St Vincents next in the semi-finals as they look to retain their crown.
