Vine Group harvest festival this weekend
The Vine Group’s “Euchariston” harvest festival will be back for its seventh year to “celebrate the community and all it has to offer.”
The weekend-long festival will kick off on Friday, October 4, with an opening ceremony in Killinarden Sacred Heart Church at 7:30pm.
Throughout the evening, community groups will be on hand to give information about what they do and how to get involved in their work.
Saturday, October 5, is set to be the festival’s busiest day, with three events scheduled all taking place in Sacred Heart Church.
The blessing of pets and animals at 11am will be followed by an international concert at 2:00pm, and an international food fair will call for the community to try treats from all over the world from 3:30pm.
A ceremony mass in the Sacred Heart will conclude the festival, on Sunday, October 6, and will be followed by more refreshments and entertainment.
“The Euchariston harvest festival is a celebration of the community, and all it has to offer,” said Tallaght Vine Group chairman Joe Geoghegan.
“It was conceived with the idea of celebrating the local area and shining a spotlight on all the positive things it has to offer, like our local groups and activities.”
The annual festival has been taking place in a different parish every year, including Fettercairn, Jobstown, Belgard, Springfield, and Brookview, and usually “a couple of hundred” turn out throughout the three days.
The same attendance is expected this year, with the international food fair event encouraging the increasingly diverse local community to come together.
“We’ll have Irish, Filipinos, Africans, and many other nationalities celebrating together,” said Joe.
Euchariston events are free and open to everyone, but children must be accompanied by an adult.
