School courtyard and playground extension is declared invalid
A PLANNING application for a courtyard, playground, and an extension to Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School in Drimnagh has been declared invalid by Dublin City Council.
The plans were lodged by The Archdiocese of Dublin/St. Laurence O’Toole Diocesan Trust in January.
Permission was sought for the demolition of the existing temporary prefabricated classrooms, to be replaced with accommodation that forms a three-sided courtyard and playground.
A single-storey extension to the west of the school building and two-storey to the east also formed part of the plans.
The proposed accommodation was to house four new general classrooms, a music room, a woodwork room, SEN facilities, and toilets, across two separate buildings.
Provision of a new vehicular access from Knocknaree Road to introduce a one-way system for staff car parking and SEN drop off and covered cycle parking was included.
However, on February 9, Dublin City Council declared the application for planning permission invalid.
