Searches connected to Stephen Lynch murder carried out in Tallaght and surrounding areas
A NUMBER of homes in Tallaght and its surrounding area were searched this week in connection with the murder of Stephen Lynch, a Garda source has confirmed to Echo.ie.
The operation was described by a Garda source as “evidence gathering” and resulted in a number of homes being raided and items seized for forensic examination.
Speaking with Echo.ie, a senior Garda source said: “A number of searches were carried out yesterday [Thursday, April 20] in connection with Stephen Lynch’s death.
“I cannot confirm the number of premises targeted but they were based in Tallaght and its surrounding area.
“This operation was evidence gathering and a number of items were taken for analysis.
“No arrests were made but officers are building a case, so any witnesses or people with information are encouraged to come forward.”
As reported in The Echo newspaper on Thursday, officers are believed to be closing in on those responsible for Stephen’s death, which occurred on Thursday, April 13, when the father-of-three was deliberately ran over by a silver Ford Focus on Brookview Close in Tallaght.
Hundreds gathered at St Aidan’s Church in Brookfield this morning for Stephen’s funeral mass, which was attended by hundreds of mourners who gathered to remember the ‘caring, funny and loving father’ and to stand in solidarity with his grieving family.
Confirming that a number of people have already come forward with information, the Garda source urged anybody else with information that could assist the investigation to contact Tallaght Garda station on 6666000.
