Secrets of St Maelruain’s

ST MAELRUAIN’S Church in Tallaght village will be open for Culture Night this Friday, September 23, from 4pm, with guided tours of the 200-year-old building being given by Reverend William Deverell.

The architectural heritage and history of the landmark structure will be explored during the tours, and no advance booking is required – members of the public are welcome to drop in until 10pm.

“If you have never seen inside the 200-year-old church please avail of the opportunity,” said Rev Deverell, “and also learn about the eighth-century site when Tallaght and Finglas were the Eyes of Ireland in the Land of Saints and Scholars.”

Other highlights of Culture Night in South Dublin County include a live performance by musician Niamh Keane in North Clondalkin Library at 7.30pm, followed by an open mic event.

The Tallaght Choral Society will perform in Tallaght Theatre from 7.15pm, as part of an evening of dance, drama and song that’s being held by the Tallaght Theatre group.

From 4pm to 7pm, the main atrium of Tallaght University Hospital will be a hub of activity as there will be live music performances and an arts and crafts stall.
