A talented soccer player, the court had heard that last summer he went for a trial with a professional club in the North of England.

He was before Judge Patricia McNamara for a probation report.

His solicitor, Michael Hennessy, told Judge McNamara that it was a good report.

Judge McNamara noted that it was the ninth time the case was in court. Reminding Judge McNamara of the facts of the case, Sergeant Michael Ahern said that at 2pm on June 28, 2016, the boy’s mother went up to his bedroom as she was looking for her keys. He said the boy pushed his mother against the wall and grabbed her by the throat.

Sgt Ahern said the mother later reported the incident to Rathfarnham Garda Station.

The Judge told the boy that he was “exceptionally talented”.

She placed him on a six-month Probation Bond.
