South Dublin Migrant Integration Forum hold annual Multicultural Day

THE South Dublin Migrant Integration Forum (SDMIF) held its annual Multicultural Day in Tymon Park on Sunday, June 23.

The vibrant day featured a cultural exchange that included Romanian and Cameroonian dance and music, and a variety of food from various cultures.

Other popular features on the day included the Nigerian game Ten Ten, which requires players to clap in sync with their partner’s rhythm, and a dance to Nigerian music by Kidz Daniel.

Yemi Ojo, the chairperson of the SDMIF who lives in Jobstown, told The Echo: “The atmosphere was happy, fun, positive and the weather was amazing.

“It was a great day. Thanks to all the participants, my committed SDMIF executives, especially Cristina, the SDMIF deputy chair, for coordinating the event.

“The highlights of the event for me were the learning of different activities from all the diverse cultures including the making of the Romanian head flowers, dance, music, games, food and having fun and a good laugh.

“We are all looking forward to next year’s 2025 Multicultural Day. Thanks to South Dublin County Council’s Integration Community Development Section for their support.”
