Sports Capital grant applications submitted to help develop facilities

A NUMBER of Sports Capital Grant applications have been submitted recently under the Governments Sports Capital Programme.

The Sports Capital Grant Programme is operated by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and provides grants to assist in the development or refurbishment of sports facilities and the provision of sports equipment.

An application was made for €10,500 for a ball stop net at Ned Kelly Park in Kilnamanagh

South Dublin County Council made a number of applications including €35,000 for ball courts at Dodder Valley, €70,000 for ball courts at Beechfield Park, and €10,500 for a ball stop net in Kilnamanagh.

They also applied for €14,350 for storage facilities at Griffeen Park, and the same amount for storage facilities at Greentrees Park and Ballymount.

An application was made for a grant of €300,000 for pavillion programme Dodder Valley Mt Carmel as well as €296,650 for pavillion Programme Collinstown pavillion Phase 2.

Applications included Lucan Harriers who requested a grant of €163,620 for their Lucan Athletics Track infield works Phase 3, which is estimated to cost €233,743.

€300,000 was requested for a water sports facility in Lucan Demesne Phase 1 and an application for €105,000 for Dodder Valley Mt Carmel BMX was submitted.

The council is also seeking funding for pitches in Kiltipper of €49,980 each (Pitch 01 and Pitch 02) as well as Kiltipper GAA Pitch (01) for €150,000.

An application was made for Killinarden GAA Pitch (82) for a total of €150,000 and the €49,980 was requested for the soccer pitch (83).

A request for funding for Ballymount GAA Pitch (94) was submitted for €35,000 and the same amount for the Clondalkin Park GAA Pitch (50). Weston Hockey Club in Lucan made an application of €150,000 to resurface the Weston hockey pitch.
