Sports funding of €30m available to local clubs

A SPORTS club funding programme has been boosted by the announcement that €30 million will now be available under the scheme, which helps to fund the development of sports facilities and non-personal sports equipment, such as hurling walls and goal-posts.

Local community sports and activity groups are encouraged to apply for funding from the Sports Capital Programme.

To apply, sports clubs need to register online and submit their application.

Clubs who have never previously applied for the funding are strongly encouraged by the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross, and the Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Patrick O’ Donovan, to get their applications in early.

Community groups such as scouts and active retirement groups are also invited to apply, by registering in advance of the official commencement of formal applications on January 23, through the sportscapitalprogramme.ie website.
