Stephen Kenny’s reign as Republic of Ireland Under 21 manager got off to a winning start

Stephen Kenny's reign as Republic of Ireland Under 21 manager got off to a winning start as his side recorded a 3-0 victory over Luxembourg in their European Championship qualification curtain raiser in Tallaght Stadium tonight.
Two goals from Adam Idah either side of a Neil Farrugia effort was more than enough to see the hosts off the mark.
The visitors were very limited in terms of chances although centre half Conor Masterson from Lucan did have to close down a strike by Clayton Duarte 21 minutes in.
Ireland finally broke the deadlock 13 minutes later when Farrugia's corner kick was met by a glancing header from Idah.
And they doubled their advantage in the 37th minute when Man of the Match Connor Ronan drove at the Luxembourg rearguard before sliding the ball through to Farrugia who coolly chipped it over oncoming goalkeeper Tom Ottele.
A deserved third came midway through the second half when Masterson cleared the ball to Idah who çombined with Ronan to create the space needed to shoot home.
