Still Be There: Brain Tumour survivor Pamela releases new single

“A story about making mistakes and hurting the ones you love. Trying to come back and asking them to forgive you for what you have done in the hope they will still be there for you”.

This is what Kilnamanagh-born Pamela Tully says of her latest single, ‘Still Be There.’

In time for Brain Tumor Awareness Week running October 20-26, Pamela, a brain tumour survivor, wants to unite singer-songwriters affected by the disease and raise money for the only charity in Ireland dedicated to brain tumor patients and their families.

‘Tunes for Tumours’ takes place on Oct 25 at The Hendrick Hotel, Smithfield, featuring Claire Malone of ‘The Stars of the Commitments’ world tour fame, whose mother sadly passed away in 2008 from a tumour, and Amy Kelly, aka ANDI, a mental health advocate, whose debut EP ‘Cedar Ward,’ released in 2021, met critical acclaim from Nialler 9, Hotpress, and more.

The regret-inspired anthem ‘Still Be There’ pays homage to her love of Rock undertones with pop hooks resembling her love for outspoken artists like PINK

“My genre of music is inspired by pop rock; think Lady Gaga meets Pink. Since releasing my first single in 2022, I’ve been exploring my songwriting ability.”

This event has been “in the wishing” since 2020, when Pamela was first diagnosed, and she wishes to use this fundraiser as a way of giving back to Brain Tumor Ireland for taking care of her during her journey.

She also knows her co-performers from previous experience; she met Andi when they participated in the Dublin Gospel Choir together, and she knows Claire from her wedding band days.

Challenges include organisation, with issues such as sorting out the band and finding the right venue, but fortunately Smithfield is allowing them to use their space for free.

She is hoping the 120 tickets will sell out and the show will be a success; she is planning a series of follow-on gigs in the new year and releasing new singles.

For their help, Pamela would like to thank Andi and Claire, the band, the venue, her family, and Brain Tumor Ireland.

‘Tunes for Tumours’ performs in Smithfield on October 25, with doors opening at 7.30pm; tickets are on sale now, so don’t miss out!
