Jonathan Afolabi has joined Belgian club KV Kortrijk for an undisclosed fee from Airtricity League side Bohemian.

From Tallaght, the former Marks Celtic, Shamrock Rovers and Celtic player has played for Bohs for the past year and a half.

During his spell with the Gypsies, the talented striker played in the FAI Cup final against St Patrick’s Athletic in November while he also picked up the SWI/SSE Airtricity Player of the Month for July and was nominated for the PFA Ireland Player of the Year Award.

The 23-year-old was joint top scorer with 15 goals in the Airtricity League this year. His contract was due to expire at the end of the 2024 season.

KV Kortijk are currently bottom of the Belgian Pro League having won only two of 20 games so far this season.

Afolabi told the Bohemian FC website: “It has been a pleasure and an honour to play for Bohs the last year and a half.

“I’d like to thank the coaching staff, my teammates and all the fans for making my time here very enjoyable. I’ll be moving on with a lot of good memories and moments in my career that have helped me improve.

“Lastly, I would like to wish the club all the best going forward. I will be supporting the lads from afar. Up the Bohs.”
