Students jet off to Malaga to complete work experience

A GROUP of 20 students from Greenhills College of Further Education are preparing to jet off to Malaga this weekend to complete work experience placements related to their studies.

This is the third year that the college has participated in the programme, which is called Erasmus+, and students were selected from a pool of applicants.

The successful students are from a variety of courses, including childcare, social care, engineering, computer programming and nursing.

The students will spend 13 days in the sun-soaked city, getting to enhance their studies while also experiencing a new culture.

Paula Nugent, a tutor from the college who has helped to organise the working holiday with fellow tutor Laura Fox told The Echo the experience will be a positive one for the students.

“This is our third time to run this programme and we are really looking forward to travelling as a group and representing Greenhills Community College,” said Ms Nugent.

“It is truly a wonderful opportunity for our students, as they will be immersed in such a rich and diverse culture.

“They will be assigned to work experience in Malaga that is related to their field of study as this will be very beneficial to their professional and personal growth and development.

“On this programme we provide flights and accommodation for all students and provide spending money.

“We also organise a day trip to a local village in the mountains, bike rides, beach activities, visit to a flamenco show and a sunset hike to a famous landmark in the centre of Malaga.”
