Students shine at Enterprise awards

BUDDING teenage entrepreneurs were selected to represent South Dublin at the Student Enterprise Programme National Finals in Croke Park on May 2.
The young entrepreneurs will represent their Local Enterprise Office and county at the showpiece event.

Every September, entrepreneurial secondary school students across the country begin their business journey as they are encouraged to brainstorm, create and run their own businesses.
Students competed at the South Dublin County final on Friday, March 9, which was held at IT Tallaght.
An estimated 200 students from 14 schools took part in the annual programme locally.
In the Junior Category, the student representing South Dublin at the national finals is Colm Ward from Deadly Dublin Days at Coláiste Éanna, Templeogue.
In the Intermediate Category, will be Shanice Stafford, Naomi Lanney, Imelda Kinch, and Áine Mitchell, from CC Hoodies, Colaiste Chilliain, Clondalkin.
In the Senior Category, is Rory Duggan and Fionn McBride from ReLumination at Coláiste Éanna.
Co-ordinated by LEO’s in every local authority area, the competition is the most successful student enterprise programme of its kind in the country.
South Dublin had the national final winner in the Intermediate category in 2015 – Dara Ward of Coláiste Éanna, brother of this year’s Junior winner Colm Ward.
The local students will compete with hundreds of other student entrepreneurs in Croke Park on May 2.
The Student Enterprise Programme began in 2003, with over 150,000 students getting involved since its inception.
