Students step up to the challenge: Westside performing arts takes to the Helix stage

During the October bank holiday weekend, Westside Performing Arts students performed on stage at The Helix, DCU, and the event was a huge success, reports Ryan Butler.

It was an incredible experience to return to the stage after such a lengthy absence with this show, which had its debut date set for October 2020.

It was a genuinely spectacular display of ability, devotion, and effort put in by everyone involved.

The most recent times have been difficult for everyone, but our students have demonstrated incredible resilience and tenacity. In spite of the challenges they have encountered, they have maintained a high level of academic achievement in all of their classes.

Their trademark two-part show was back at The Helix.

Act 1 was a tribute to Broadway, the West End, and silver screen music.

Act 2: Snow Bright had to decide where she belonged on her first day at the Fairy Tale Academy.

She experienced Maleficent’s and her sidekicks’ anger as she navigated the magical realm with her new-found pals.

They quickly discovered, with a little assistance from the Fairy God Mother, that their stories would vanish forever if they didn’t pursue their unique destinies and make an effort to live in harmony.

A heartwarming story that served as a gentle reminder that being who you are is what matters most.
