Super weekend for Tallaght AC
LAST weekend was another super weekend for Tallaght Athletic club with Israel Olatunde setting a new National record for the 100m.
Competing at the NEB Open in London on Sunday, the three-time National 100m title holder lowered his own Irish record from 10.17 to 10.12 when beating the British pair of Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake and Stephen Bafour into second and third.
And at the Scottish U17 Championships Dubem Amah won the 200m title with a great time of 22.06 while National U17 100m record holder Sean O’Donnel added the Scottish 100m title with a time of 10.88.
Elsewhere, at the Irish Life Frank Duffy 10-mile Road race, incorporating the Dublin Championships, in the Phoenix Park on Sunday, Tomas Fitzpatrick recorded a time of 53:48.00 when crossing the line in 5th place in a field of 3288 finishers.
David Callaghan was next to finish for the club (58:51), followed by, Kahumburuka Tuahuku (1:02.:12), Patrick Kelly (1:03.32), Gerry Dore 2nd O/55 (1:03.35), Michael Murphy (1:05.52), Patricia Ferguson (1:07.31), Tara Darcy 3rd O/35 (1:07.55), Gareth Dooley (1:09:38), Barry Cullen (1:09.45), Elaine De Courcy 3rd O/45 (1:09.48), Robbie Furlong (1:10.31), Paul Murphy (1:10.42), Susan Jones (1:14.27), Joe Pepper (1:14.46), Alan Mc Cabe 2nd O/65 (1:15.31), Stephen Sharpe (1:16.46), Sean Mc Cabe (1:17.55), Joyce Foley (1:25.18), Patrick Synnott (1:25.24), Thelma Mc Loughlin (1:26.30), Regana Razak (1:28.14), Carol Murray (1:35.21), Sean Morris (1:39.16), Terry Fayne (1:45.12) and Caroline Scanlan (1:47.37).
The race incorporated the Dublin 10-mile Championships and Tallaght athletes fared exceptionally well with Tomas Fitzpatrick picking up the Dublin title in the 40-44 category, David Callaghan 3rd Senior, while Gerry Dore and Alan Mc Cabe both picked up silver in their respective 45-59 and 65-69 categories.
In the women’s categories, Patrica Ferguson won silver in the Senior women’s as did Tara Darcy in the 35-39, and Elaine De Courcy in the 45-49 category.
In the Dublin team categories, the women’s team combination of Patricia Ferguson, Tara Darcy, Elaine De Courcy and Susan Jones won bronze in the senior category, while the men’s team finished 4th overall, and Michael Murphy, Gareth Dooley, Robbie Furlong and Stephen Sharpe combined to win silver in the 35-49 category, with the women’s team placing fourth, while Gerry Dore Barry Cullen and Paul Murphy combined to win the O/50 team title.
