Tailteann Games success for Tallaght athletes

TALLAGHT athletes tasted success at the Tailteann Games in Morton Stadium, Santry last Saturday when representing Leinster Schools.

Brianna Dwyer Carty contested the 300m and ran a great race to take silver and later in the day she was part of the 4X300m relay team that topped the podium, while Dubem Amah secured a brace of silver individual medals when finishing second in both the 100m and 200m, and he added a third silver after he ran a superb leg on the 4X100m relay team.

Both athletes qualified to represent the Irish Schools team at the Schools International meet in Wales.

Elsewhere, at the UCD Athletics Meet the previous Wednesday, Cormac Dixon knocked almost four seconds of his previous best time when winning his 1500m contest in 3:47.68, while Ailin Geraghty and Jack Kelly recorded times of 50.56 and 50.96 respectively in their 400m contest.

There will be lots to look forward to this coming weekend at the National Senior T&F Championships in Morton Stadium Santry when Tallaght sprint stars Rhasidat Adeleke and Israel Olatunde will be aiming to top the 100m podium.

Joseph Ojewumi, Sean Aigboboh, Simon Essuman and David Aigboboh will all be contesting the 100m and aiming to make the final and podium, while Cormac Dixon will be contesting the 1500m and Ailin Geraghty will have his first taste of Senior Championship competition when he contests the 400m
