Takeda discuss proposed changes at Grange Castle site with employees

TAKEDA has said it remains committed to Ireland amid reports of potential job losses at one of its plants in Grange Castle.

In a statement the Japanese pharmaceutical company said that any potential changes at its ‘P3 facility’ at Grange Castle would be subject to consultation with employees in line with proper employee engagement and consultation processes.

The P3 plant is one of three facilities at Takeda’s Grange Castle site. Potential job losses at Takeda Ireland were first reported by online news site Gript.

Asked how many jobs may be impacted by the potential changes at the plant, the company said: “It would not be appropriate for us to disclose further details of proposed changes while these are subject to ongoing consultation with employees at our P3 facility, Grange Castle, Dublin.”

Takeda said it regularly evaluates its operations and processes as part of efforts to ensure it is best positioned to provide innovative medicines to patients with the highest unmet needs.

“We are committed to operating in a transparent and ethical manner, and our people are our priority,” the company said.

“Takeda established operations in Ireland over 25 years ago and we remain committed to Ireland,” it added.

According to its website, Takeda employs more than 1000 people in Ireland with commercial operations, corporate services and manufacturing facilities across four locations in Baggot St, Bray, Citywest and Grange Castle.
