Tallaght athletes capture team silver

TALLAGHT athletes, Simon Essuman, Kieran Elliot, Eoin Doherty and Joseph Ojewumi combined to win silver in the 4x200m Relay at the National Indoor Championships, clocking a time of 1:29.03 in Abbotstown in Sunday.

Unfortunately for Doherty, who ran the third leg of the race, he had to receive medical attention after the event for an injury he picked up.

In the 60m earlier in the day, Ojewumi secured his place in the final where he also won silver with a new personal best time of 6.72 behind training partner Israel Olatunde (UCD) who achieved a World Indoor qualifying time of 6.62.

Olatunde is a member of a sprint group coached by Tallaght AC’s Daniel Kilgallon in Tallaght.

That group also includes Kate Doherty (DSD) who scooped silver in the women’s 60m hurdles with a time of 8.27 before also reaching the 60m sprint final in which she crossed the line in 7.66.
