Tallaght athletes round off National Championships in good style
TALLAGHT juvenile athletes rounded off their participation at the final day of the National Juvenile Championships in Tullamore last Saturday in good style with eight athletes making the finals.
Amongst them were Sean O’ Donnell and Dubem Amah who won gold and silver respectively in the U17 100m the previous week, and both won their 200m heats with respective times of 22.36 and 22.23 to qualify for the final where Dubem produced a great performance to take silver in 22.40, but unfortunately Sean had to withdraw due to a hamstring issue.
Tallaght was also doubly represented in the U16 200m final where Abdullahi Adeleke and Kamal Oresanya finished 6th and 7th respectively with times of 23.89 and 24.04, after posting times of 23.62 and 23.43 in the heats, and in the U17 girls 200m final Brianna Dwyer Carty finished a respectable 5th place with a time of 26.03, after she posted a time of 25.59 when winning her qualifying heat earlier in the day.
Joanna Shodipo qualified from the heats of the U18 200m with a time of 26.42 and finished 7th in the final with a time of 26.80, while Uche Disu finished 5th in the U19 200m final with a time of 26.59, after she posted a time of 26.41 in the earlier qualifying heats.
Leonard Deering contested the U15 1500m final where he finished a respectable 7th with a time of 4:28.3.
Katriel Fernandes bowed out in the heats of the U14 200m after she finished 5th with a time of 28.82, while Gabriella Azeez recorded a time of 27.08 when finishing 7th in her semi-final, and Ellie Carruth recorded a time of 27.97 when 6th in her U18 200m heat.
Several Tallaght athletes will be contesting the National U20 & U23 and Master Championships in Tullamore next weekend, after which all eyes be focused on Rhasidat Adeleke when she takes her rightful place in the Stade De France at the Paris Olympics next week.
