Tallaght boy (12) accused of four counts of dangerous driving

A SCHOOLBOY (12) accused of four counts of dangerous driving intends to fight his case, Tallaght Court has heard.

The boy allegedly led gardai on a pursuit across Tallaght at 11pm last January. He appeared in his school uniform with his mother before Judge Patricia McNamara.

The boy, who has an address in Tallaght, is charged with four counts of dangerous driving, no insurance and no driving licence at a location in Tallaght on January 14, 2016.

The court had heard it will be allegedthat at 11pm on January 14 last a Garda was on patrol when he observed a car driving at speed. 

He said the conditions were quite icy.

The car drove over a number of speed bumps at speed and then broke a red light before losing control, the court had heard.

The accused and three other males got out of the car.

The boy’s solicitor, Michael Hennessy, told Judge McNamara that his client was pleading not guilty.

He said his client is back in school and asked for the hearing date to be during the mid-term break.

Judge McNamara remanded the boy on continuing bail to a date in November for hearing.
