Tallaght drunk told garda to ‘f**k off’ multiple times

A DRUNK who told a garda multiple times to “f**k off” had his case remanded for a probation report by Tallaght Court.

Jonathan Parsons, aged 40, with an address at De Selby Drive, Tallaght, pleaded guilty to public drunkenness and breaching the peace at the Old Mill car park, Tallaght, on September 11, 2016.

 

He pleaded not guilty to possession of a knife at the Old Mill car parkon the above date.

Garda Christopher White told Judge Patricia McNamara that at 1.15am on September 11 last, he was flagged down by security in the Old Mill Pub where a drunk male was stumbling around the car park.

He said he approached the man, Parsons, who told him numerous time to “f**k off”. Garda White said that Parsons also swung his arm at him.

He said he arrested Parsons and brought him to Tallaght Garda Station where he was later found in possession of a small box cutter.

Parson’s counsel, George Burns Bl, said his client had pleaded guilty to the public order charges but not guilty to the possession of the knife and he had a reason for this.

Parsons told Judge McNamara that he had been doing work in his girlfriends house and had used the boxcutters to trim some wallpaper. He said that “for some reason” he had put the box cutters in his pocket and then forgot about it.

Judge McNamara dismissed the knife charge.

Garda White said Parsons had nine previous convictions including four for public order and one for criminal damage. On August 1 last he had been sentenced to 60 hours community service. On February 1, 2009, he had been fined €100 for breaching the peace.

Judge McNamara remanded Parsons on continuing bail to a date in February for a probation report and for sentencing.
