Tallaght MA impress in Cork

TALLAGHT Martial Arts students were in action at The Munster Open in the Mayfield Sports Centre in Cork on Sunday.

The TMA fight team put in an exceptional performance to win 16 gold, seven silver and three bronze medals competing against some top opponents from all over Ireland.

Eryn Brikhead was on top of her game to win the Ladies Grand Champion open weight and silver in the under 17 female light contact section.

Anna White put in a brilliant performance to win the under 17 female points fighting section and likewise Reg Doyle competing in the under 13 advance points fighting section took gold.

Aaron Keogh won Gold in the – 75kg men’s points fighting section after very closely fight contest over the two rounds and also winning third in light contact in the under 17 years advance section.

Kyle Keogh won a bronze medal in the intermediate light contact under 15 years while Sarah Cassidy won the ladies – 55kg points fighting section putting in a strong performance to secure victory and going on to win silver in the under 17 points fighting section.

Naman Shrivastava put in a solid performance to win silver in the men’s grand champion and Isabel Golding won gold in her light contact and silver in her points fighting under 11 years.

Leo Golding won an well-earned silver in the under 15 years points fighting section.

Eoin Finn put in an unyielding effort to win silver medals in both points fighting and light contact in the under 13 years sections while Edward Comerford won gold in the under 13 years light contact section and bronze in the points fighting section, his sister Amy won gold in the under 11 years points fighting section.

Conor McClelland was on top of his game to win both his points fighting and light contact under 7 years sections and Dylan McClelland won gold in the under 17 years points fighting section and 3rd in the men’s Grand Champion.

Georgia Doyle took top spot on the podium in the under 9 years points fighting section after some tough contests.

Cillian Mc Ardle won a well[1]earned gold in the under 15 years points fighting section and 3rd in the light contact.

Dillon King put in an incredible performance in light contact and kick light to Sucre two gold medals.

Dara Clarke fought some tough contest in the under 13 points fighting section to win the no 1 spot on the podium.

Tallaght Martial Arts Coach Martin Bannon said they club were extremely happy with the results from the Munster Open which was a verification for all the hard work and training the students and coaches had done over the last four months training four to five times a week to achieved their goals.

Next up for Tallaght martial Arts students is the Kickboxing Ireland National championships for younger cadets, older cadets.

Juniors, seniors and masters in UCD Sports Centre on May 13/14 which will have a strong representation from the Tallaght club.
