Tallaght Martial Arts athletes impress at North East Open
IT was a big day for Tallaght Martial Arts as 14 of their athletes competed at the North East Open, bringing home a whopping 12 medals— seven golds, four silvers, and one bronze.
From first-time competitors to experienced fighters, the team delivered standout performances across the board.
Georgia Clarke got things off to a flying start by grabbing Gold in the -10 Advanced points division, setting the tone for the rest of the day.
Not long after, Conor McClelland followed up with another Gold in the -8 points Intermediate category.
Newcomer Oisín Ó Dálaigh was up next, and he put on an impressive performance in his first-ever competition, earning a Bronze in the -10 Novice points division.
For a debut, it was a great result, and Oisín’s calm under pressure suggests big things to come.
Dara Kelly-Clarke kept the medal count climbing, taking home two Silvers in Light Contact and Points in the -16 Advanced category.
Dara showed his versatility across the disciplines, adding to the team’s success.
Anna White was one of the busiest competitors of the day, fighting in multiple divisions and winning 2 Golds and 1 Silver.
She topped the podium in the Seniors 65kg points and -18 Advanced points categories, while also grabbing Silver in the -16 Advanced points division.
Craig Whelehan made his competitive debut and didn’t disappoint, winning Gold in the Novice U14 points division.
His first time on the mats was nothing short of impressive, adding another win for Tallaght Martial Arts.
Max Myers took the top spot in the -16 Light Contact division, securing another Gold for the team, while Dylan McClelland rounded out the Gold rush with a win in the Men’s -70kg Points category.
Both fighters delivered strong performances, further boosting the team’s medal haul.
Veteran competitor Ann Marie O’Grady closed out the event with a Silver in the Veterans +65kg points division, bringing the team’s total to 13 medals and capping off a fantastic day for Tallaght Martial Arts.
Next up for the team is the Flanders Open at the end of September, where our athletes will be looking to continue their winning streak.
With this level of talent and determination, Tallaght Martial Arts are definitely a team to watch.
