Tallaght Martial Arts fighters record superb showing in 2019 Irish Open
TALLAGHT Martial Arts had one of their best showings in the Irish Open that was held in Citywest last weekend, winning 12 gold, six silver and 17 bronze and finishing third on the medal table that included 296 clubs repre-senting 35 nations.
First up on Friday was light contact which saw Jodie Browne take bronze in the -65kg Junior Girls division after which she won both the -65kg and +65kg Junior Points Fighting honours for her fifth Irish Open title in a row.

Stephen Jones won the Over 35 Years Points Fighting title and took bronze in the +89kg class.
In the Team event TMA older cadets (13-15 years), Nathan Kelly, Dylan Mc-Celland, Cialam Dowdall , Naoise Colvin and Zara Jones reached the semi finals where they lost out to the eventual winners from Greece.
Troy Gannon, fighting in the -63kg Light Contact Junior Men section won bronze, while there was silver for Cialam Dodwall in the Older Cadets Light Contact -57kg and bronze for Nathan Kelly in the Older Cadets -47kg Light Contact.
Keri Browne, fighting in the -65kg and -70kg Points Fighting sections, faced some tough international competitors on route to both semi finals where she narrowly lost out.
Aoife Bailey topped the podium in the -50kg Junior Female Points Fighting before Szymon Rycek followed suit in the -70kg Beginners Points Fighting class.
Eadaoin McCrave carded silver in the Junior Female +70kg Points Fighting section and bronze in the -70kg equivalent after which Conor McGlinchey struck gold in the Junior Men’s -79kg Points Fighting section.
There was an Irish Open title win also for Adam Condon in the Junior Men Full Contact -57kg field before a double gold was scored by Nathan Clarke in the 7-9 Years Points Fighting -30kg and 33kg.
His sister Jenna Clarke, fighting in the Beginners -50kg Older Cadet, won gold and bronze in the -46kg section with Dillon King finishing third in the +47kg Points Fighting Younger Cadet section.
Anna White won silver in the -32kg Younger Cadet’s Points Fighting, Rhys O’Connor gold in the Younger Cadets -28kg Points Fighting and Dylan Mc Celland bronze in the Older Cadets -57kg Points Fighting.
Naoise Colvin, lining out in the Older Cadets -46kg Points Fighting, took first place with silver going the way of Zara Jones in the Older Cadets -50kg before she scooped bronze in both -46kg Points fighting and Light Contact.
Isabel Golding took silver in the 7-9 Years -24kg Points Fighting section before Max Lennon, fighting in the Older Cadets -37kg Points Fighting division, narrowly lost out in the semi final.
