Tallaght men are back on top of the table

TALLAGHT RFC reclaimed top spot in Division Seven of the Metro League following their 12-38 victory over Seapoint in Kilbogget Park on Saturday.
The visitors enjoyed the perfect start as full back Ciaran Rudd put wing Gavin McKeon in the corner for an early try that went unconverted.
After a series of quick taps, Seapoint put Tallaght under severe pressure and eventually broke over for a try to tie that match.
Tallaght eventually made it back into the Seapoint half, and they made it count as the forwards took responsibility with series of powerful carries from the likes of Jack Russell, Adam Nolan and Ken McGovern before prop Declan Malone barrelled his way over for his first try for the club.
Morgan Farrell kicked the conversion to make it 12-5 to Tallaght and it was not long before Tallaght scored again.
Off an attacking scrum, Number Eight Adam Nolan lined up in the out-half spot, carried powerfully and offloaded superbly to David Clarke who went in under the posts, Farrell converting to make it 19-5 by the halftime break.
Still Seapoint came back strongly in the second half and Tallaght did not help themselves by giving away a succession of penalties.
Seapoint eventually took advantage of a gap in the midfield defence to score a try which they converted to make it 19-12 and matters did not get any better for Tallaght when Joe Ivers was shown a yellow card.
The card appeared to focus Tallaght’s minds with Jack Russell tapping a quick penalty near the line and, after a couple of carries from the pack, Willie Lambe burrowed his way over for a try before Farrell tagged on the extras.
Tallaght were determined to close out the match and they did so with two more tries.
First Owen Tyrell pro-duced a strong run straight through the Seapoint defence before offloading to Morgan Farrell who scored under the posts and then converted his own try.
Soon after a great pass from Jack Russell found Kevin Quinn and he put Ciaran Rudd in for the final score of the match.
Delighted with his players’ efforts, Tallaght head coach Tom Leigh said “It’s always tough to win on the road, but overall I thought the lads were excellent, both the fifteen who started and the lads who came in off the bench.
“Our next two league games are away to the teams in second and third place, DLSP and UCD. They will present a serious challenge but we’re going to work very hard over the next few weeks to meet that challenge,” he added.
