Jurisdiction in the case was refused by Judge Alan Mitchell.

The teenager, who has an address in Tallaght, is charged with assaulting a named male causing him harm and with producing a knife on a street in Tallaght on September 15, 2016.

He also pleaded guilty to damaging a garda car at a location in Tallaght on January 16, 2016, but not guilty to damaging a neighbour’s front door on January 16 and on January 24, 2016.

The teenager’s mother was in court. She told the court she is in fear of her son and doesn’t want him living in the family home.

She told Judge Mitchell: “When he was last released on bail he went up to my house and smashed every window. Then he sold all the goods in my house.”

The teenager appeared before Judge Mitchell in custody.

In relation to the assault, Garda Stephen Coller told the judge that the DPP had directed summary disposal.

He said it will be alleged that the teenager attacked a neighbour on September 15 last and stabbed him in the head with a knife a number of times. Garda Coller said he had a medical report and photographs of the injuries.

The teenager’s solicitor, Michael Hennessy, asked the judge not to look at the photographs when considering jurisdiction as the permanency of any scar should be considered.

Judge Mitchell didn’t look at the photographs but read the medical report. He refused jurisdiction and released the teenager on bail and remanded him for three weeks for service of his book of evidence and to set a hearing date on the contested matters.

As part of his bail, the teenager must stay away from all injured parties in the different cases, he must stay out of his mother’s estate and he is not to take alcohol or illicit drugs.
