Tallaght Stadium fails pitch inspection due to snow

SHAMROCK Rovers Airtricity League encounter with Drogheda United has been postponed after the grounds in Tallaght Stadium failed a pitch inspection.

There was a pitch inspection at the grounds at 1.30pm today and due snow fall in Tallaght all morning the pitch was deemed unplayable.

Defending champions Rovers were hoping to secure their first win in the league having lost 2-1 to Damien Duff’s Shelbourne last week and drawing 1-1 with Dundalk in the opening round match.

In a League of Ireland statement issued this afternoon, it said:  “The League of Ireland can confirm that tonight’s fixture between Shamrock Rovers and Drogheda United in the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division has been postponed due to a failed pitch inspection at Tallaght Stadium amid adverse weather conditions. 

“Further information on a rescheduled date will be issued in due course. 

Stephen Bradley’s side will be now out in action against Derry City on Monday night in Tallaght Stadium.
