Tallaght Stadium works on course to finish by end of July

ALL scheduled works at Tallaght Stadium are expected to be completed by the end of July 2023.

The South Dublin County Council owned stadium will re-open for football games from the first weekend of March.

Shamrock Rovers, the reigning SSE League Champions, are hosting their first home league match of the 2023 season that weekend.

Rovers will be boosted next year by the addition of the new fourth stand at the Tallaght bypass end of the grounds which will increase the capacity to a 10,000-seater.

The investment in Tallaght Stadium is approximately €11.5 million, with the works maintaining the stadium’s UEFA Category 4 status which will potentially allow the hosting of all European games, including group games for the Champions League or Europa League.

Cllr Charlie O’Connor (FF) asked for an updated status on the works at the recent Tallaght area meeting.

In response, SDCC said construction works are currently on schedule, comprising the new North Stand for spectators, as well as upgraded corporate, match day media and hospitality areas of the existing Main Stand.

“There are also scheduled works to the existing South Stand which includes a Changing Places Facility for attendees at stadium events, as well as improved viewing access for spectators with limited mobility,” said SDCC.

In addition to football, the improved facilities will assist the council with the potential hosting of concerts, and other large scale events at the venue.

The new North Stand development includes much-enhanced facilities for media and sporting fixtures as well as revamped conference and meeting-room facilities.
