A TEENAGER (15) charged with robbing a bicycle allegedly threatened the father of the owner of the bicycle with a golf club, Tallaght Court has heard.

He is also charged with possession of a golf club and damaging the bonnet of a car at another location in Tallaght also on November 7 last.

The teenager’s parents were present in court. Judge Patricia McNamara asked what was alleged.

Garda Dolores Walsh said it will be alleged that on November 7 last the injured party, a 15-year-old boy, was cycling along the bypass when the teenager came behind him and knocked him off his bicycle.

She said it will be alleged that the teenager, who was known to the injured party, made off on the bicycle.

The injured party then phoned his father. Garda Walsh said it will be alleged that the father went to the scene and he and his son then tracked the teenager to an address in Tallaght where they asked him to return the bike.

She said the teenager refused to hand over the bike and then threatened them with a golf club before going out and damaging the bonnet of the father’s car with the golf club.

Judge McNamara accepted jurisdiction.

The teenager’s solicitor, Michael Hennessy, said his client was pleading not guilty. He said there would be three defence witnesses, including his client.

The court heard that the teenager is currently serving a sentence.

Judge McNamara remanded him on continuing bail for two weeks to set a hearing date.
