Tallaght teen raises €1,000 for LauraLynn children’s hospice

A TALLAGHT teen went that extra inch this week and raised more than €1,000 for the LauraLynn children’s hospice through a sponsored hair cut for a charity that makes wigs for children.

Living in Ardmore, Chloe Ward, who is a second year student in St Mark’s Community School in Springfield, donated 13 inches of her hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that makes wigs for free for children in Ireland and the UK who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other illness.

According to Chloe’s mother Linda, the 14-year-old came up with the idea of a sponsored hair cut herself, with all money raised through the donation of 13 inches of plaited hair going to LauraLynn, which provides care and support to children with life-limiting conditions.

To date more than €1,000 has been raised by Chloe for the children’s hospice, with donations still coming in.

Chloe and her family would like to thank their family, friends, neighbours, St Mark’s Community School and Phoenix Gymnastics on the Greenhills Road who all supported Chloe’s fundraising drive.
