Tallaght Town to contest Barcelona Cup

TALLAGHT Town’s DDSL Under 12 Division One team head to Spain this week to take their place in the Barcelona Cup.

The four-day competition has seen the Kiltipper-based side pitched into a tough group that includes AMS Soyaux of France, De Betrokken Spartaaan Soccerplus of the Netherlands and English outfit Woodcoombe Youth FC.

Approved by the Catalan Football Federation (FFF) and Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), the tournament sees 20 nations represented by some 100 teams.

Tallaght has enjoyed a promising start to the season beating Lakelands and Cabinteely and drawing with Grangewoodbine in their opening three games in the league.

Looking ahead to the tournament, Tallaght Town manager Tony Carroll said “There are some really strong teams in this competition, but our players are looking forward to it and we’ll hold our own.”
