Tallaght woman who drove twice without insurance received three-month suspended sentence

A WOMAN who twice drove without insurance received a three-month suspended sentence and was put off the road for five years by Tallaght Court.

Maxine Dunne, aged 40, with an address at Kiltalown Path, Tallaght, pleaded guilty to having no insurance on Fortunestown Way in Tallaght on June 8, 2016.

She also pleaded guilty to having no insurance at Fettercairn Ring Road, Tallaght on June 7, 2016.

A Garda told Judge John Lindsay that he stopped Dunne on Fortunestown Way on June 8 last and she had no insurance.

Another garda told the court that he had stopped Dunne on the previous date in Fettercairn.

She had chosen to produce her insurance certificate at Tallaght Garda Station but failed to do so.

He said Dunne had 15 previous convictions, two of which were for no insurance.

At Tallaght Court on February 3, 2015, she had received a two-year ban for no insurance.

Dunne’s counsel, George Burns BL, said his client works as a carer for a friend.

He said Dunne no longer has the vehicle and has disposed of it.

Judge Lindsay imposed a five-year ban for the no insurance on June 7.

He also sentenced Dunne to three months jail, suspended for 18 months with a five-year road ban for the offence on June 8.
