Tallaght women’s team receive league cup

TALLAGHT women’s league campaign saw them go through the season unbeaten, with a draw at home to Swords the only points they dropped.

The team scored 28 tries and conceded only four and only conceded 28 points in total.

The bedrock of their success was their defence and the depth of the squad.

In total 28 different players turned out for the team this season and having cover for times players were injured or unavailable was crucial.

Head coach Hayley Whyte: “I’ve only come on board this season but the Tallaght women’s team has been going a long time.

“A lot of players, coaches and administrators put a lot of hard work to get them to this point.

“So I want to thank all those people and I know a lot of them were here to watch the trophy get lifted.

“I want to thank all the players and assistant coaches Ciaran Rudd and Andy Grace for their hard work and commitment this season.

“I especially want to thank our brilliant supporters, who came out in massive numbers all season and also our wonderful sponsor Peachylean who were there at the weekend as well.

“But the season isn’t over yet and we have a cup to play for in a few week’s time and it would be a great reward to do the double.”
