TCC encourage community to take part in An Taisce’s #2MinuteStreetClean

Tallaght Community Council (TCC) are celebrating An Taisce’s National Spring Clean for the 8th year this March in Tallaght.
With ongoing Covid restrictions impacting community events and numbers gathering, this year TCC are encouraging individuals and household bubbles to consider doing a #2MinuteStreetClean this year instead of a large community Spring Clean.
This An Taisce concept builds on the idea of a cumulative impact in our communities of lots of little, quick litter picks in our immediate areas. It can become part of your daily routine without causing too much work and improve your environment all in a matter of minutes.
Anyone can participate in a short litter pick outside their homes, on the way to the shops, school or to work. Waiting for your bus? Why not do a 2 minute street clean around the bus stop and pop the litter into the nearest bin.
All your need is a pair of gloves and somewhere to safely deposit the rubbish.
So this year, for National Spring Clean, TCC are going to conduct 2 minute street cleans as part of their daily lives for 1 week, from Monday March 15 to Sunday, March 21.
TCC will be sharing these online and social media. The group encourages all Tallaght residents and businesses to consider doing a 2 minute street clean in their area during this week within Covid restrictions.

“We have all relied heavily on the outdoors in the last year every day, so we know how nice it is to have a clean environment in our 5 km to get out into. A 2 minute street clean is an easy way to get involved and play your part in this Spring Clean in Tallaght in 2021,” said Liz Kennedy, Chair of TCC.
“Many hands make light work and many 2 minute street cleans across this week in Tallaght will help improve our environment this Spring.”
