TCC is delighted to announce Tallaght Person of The Year is back

Tallaght Person of the Year is the oldest community-led person of the year awards in Ireland, run by Tallaght Community Council (TCC).

The awards are much loved, highly energetic and positive with the aim of enabling the community appreciate, nominate and recognise the unsung heroes across Tallaght.

After moving online during Covid, the celebratory awards ceremony is now back “in-person” this year – in time to celebrate the 39th year of the awards in Tallaght.

Liz Kennedy, current voluntary Chair of TCC 2022/23 spoke of her excitement planning the 39th awards and being back “in-person”.

“It is a real achievement for our community to be holding the 39th year of the awards this year.

“These awards take a lot of volunteer time and effort each year to run professionally. They simply wouldn’t happen if my fellow volunteers weren’t so generous with their time from late August until December every year.

“This is a huge personal commitment given willingly, back stage so to speak, every year for the greater community benefit. I want to recognise them for that,.

“The last 7 years awards have been a complete sell out event, a testament to the quality of the awards and the community’s deep affection for them.

“To my fellow TCC committee volunteers, I say a hearty thank you.

“The volunteer time and effort is then importantly backed by many local business sponsors. Our partners believe very strongly in the value of the awards. Their support is strong and always encouraging.

“To all our partners past and present, I say a big go raibh maith agat. Your confidence, positivity and support is always hugely important to us.

“Being able to continue to recognise the community heroes online during the two years of Covid restriction was vital to Tallaght and the community.

“Like many, we have to adapt and pivot quickly to keep the awards available for the community.

“But it is really exciting to be able to hold a full awards programme with a large in-person awards ceremony this year.

“We have another fantastic special guest lined up to join us, a very accomplished Tallaght native who will be a familiar voice to many. More on that to come.

“To add to all this excitement, our awards will be back in The Maldron Tallaght hotel this year.”

TCC encourage everyone to keep an eye on social media for more updates.
