Teenager arrested after car overturns on Nangor Road

ONE teenager was arrested on Sunday evening after an incident involving an overturned car on the Nangor Road in Clondalkin.

It is understood the incident started when gardai on patrol in the Tallaght area signaled for a car to stop but it failed to do so.

Officers conducted a ‘managed containment operation’ on the Nangor Road shortly before 8pm which saw the car strike a lamp post. Smoke and flames could be seen coming from the car as a number of people escaped from the vehicle.

A garda statement released this evening said: “A car failed to stop for Gardaí while on proactive patrol in the Tallaght area and in the course of a managed containment operation struck a lamp post in the Nangor Road area shortly before 8pm on Sunday, 03 April 2022.

“The driver of the car, a male in his late teens, was arrested under the Road Traffic Acts, there was no reports of any injuries.

“Enquires are ongoing.”
