Templeogue Basketball Club teams launch their new season
TEMPLEOGUE Basketball Club had their season launch on Saturday.
The day kicked off with Skills Sessions and Competitions led by Jay Fazande at 4.15 and at 5pm.
At six o’clock the main event took place as Templeogue’s senior men’s basketball team took on an All Star XI featuring former Templeogue and Ireland players alongside the retiring Lorcan Murphy.
The match was essentially a testimonial for the 29 year-old who has played for Templeogue across all ages.
The Men’s Super League team came out on top, and they will open up their season on the 5th October against Maree.
They will be under the shrewd management of Mark Keenan for the 12th consecutive season, who is the longest tenured coach in the Men’s Super League.
He has bolstered his squad for the upcoming season with the signings of two former American college basketball players, Tye Fagan and Emmanuel Allen.
The Women’s senior side will participate in Division One, and they will be looking to better their 2nd place finish last season.
They have also strengthened their squad with a former American college player, as Joelle Johnson has joined their ranks for the upcoming season.
Templeogue Basketball Club have over 20 teams altogether, from U11’s to U18’s on the women’s side and from U11 to U20 in terms of the men’s teams, along with an academy from U5’s to U9’s.
