There is a new Foróige youth club in Lucan
A NEW Foróige youth club was launched in Lucan on August 22.
The club will meet every Tuesday evening from 7.30pm to 9pm in Ballyowen Community Centre and will cater for young people from the age of 13 to 16.
The club is run by adult volunteers from the area and supported by Foróige, the National Youth Development Organisation.
Speaking after the launch, Sinn Féin councillor Danny O’Brien said the club is a great addition to youth services in the area.
“There has been huge growth in the number of teenagers in the Lucan district over the last few years, this new youth club will give them a place to go to meet new friends, hang out and have fun in a safe environment,” said Cllr O’Brien.
“It was great see to so many teenagers registering on the first night. Youth facilities are badly needed in the Lucan area.
“We now have four Foróige supported youth clubs in the Lucan area for a range of ages. I hope to see them grow in the future.”
