Thousands will gather at sunrise for Darkness into Light events

THOUSANDS of people will gather across our communities at sunrise this Saturday to take part in local Darkness into Light events in aid of Pieta.

This Saturday, May 7, marks the return of in-person events for Darkness Into Light since 2019, which will take place across the globe and will give an opportunity for people to connect with people and bring hope and light to those who have been impacted by suicide and self-harm.

In addition to the main 5km walk in the Phoenix Park, there will be many local events taking place including in Corkagh Park, Tymon Park and Marlay Park. All of the walks begin at 4:15am, and you can sign up through the Darkness into Light website at www.darknessintolight.ie

Thomas Davis GAA Club in Tallaght will be holding a 5km walk from the clubhouse on the morning with refreshments in the club coffee shop afterwards and is open to all the community. St Anne’s GAA Club will also be holding a 7km walk on the morning through Bohernabreena Waterworks in the beautiful valley of Glenasmole which will begin at 4:30am. Everyone is welcome to attend and meet at the club on the morning.

A ‘sunshine walk’ will be taking place organised by N.I.N.A For Life suicide awareness this Saturday morning, meeting at Kingswood Community Centre at 3.45am.
