Works are stretching from Lidl on Main Road to the Greenhills/N81 junction

Works are being completed by Traffic Solutions Ltd, which are upgrading the traffic lights on behalf of Lidl Ireland – as part of a previous planning application.

In a comment to The Echo yesterday, Friday, March 19, a spokesperson for Lidl said: “The upgrade has been requested by South Dublin County Council as part of a previous planning application.

“The upgrade will connect the two junctions to the South Dublin County Council centralised traffic control system.

“The system will automatically adapt the traffic light signals in real time depending on the traffic flow, while coordinating with the adjacent sets of traffic lights to achieve more efficient vehicle progression through the junction, benefitting the local community.”

Construction work is expected to be complete next week

According to Lidl, there are two phases to the upgrade, construction and electrical installation.

“The construction works are expected to be completed by mid-next week”, the Lidl spokesperson said.

“The electrical works will then commence at the end of the week and will take approximately two weeks to complete, however they will be of minimal disturbance and will not require any temporary diversions.”

South Dublin County Council confirmed that Lidl is updating the traffic loops, as a requirement of a previous planning application.
